OK so do you think that option should be checked by default, then?

I'm just saying I was very surprised by the current behavior. I looked at
bash_profile, saw the bit in there about adding ~/bin to the PATH if ~/bin is
present, but yet every time I opened a terminal, ~/bin wasn't in my PATH!

Whoever wrote the default bash_profile obviously expected it to be run by
default, didn't they?
