Recreate:
  Install Gnumeric
  Applications -> Office -> Gnumeric
  Enter data into a spread sheet.
  Save it someplace
  Close Gnumeric
  Places -> Recent Documents
  Note that the gnumeric document you just created is missing

You can test this with existing documents, too.  It doesn't show up.
