Right, that's why we changed the default gstreamer sink to ALSA instead of
esound. However, if you ever modified the default sink manually, the change
cannot be applied automatically since it is an user setting then. Please change
it to ALSA manually.

However, this was only an intermittent fix for the poor esound quality.
polypaudio is much better in this regard, but it wasn't fixed until very
recently. For Breezy we will eventually switch to polypaudio instead of esound,
which will keep the esd interface, works also in situations where ALSA's dmix
causes trouble and also provides goodies like network support.
