Which application should I run under the debugger? If I 'killall gnome-panel',
it restarts automatically, so there's no way I can do 'gdb gnome-panel'. I've
installed gnome-panel-dbg, however.

Incidentally, when I killed gnome-panel and it restarted, it loaded the
Applications, Places, and System menu, as well as a few shortcut icons that I
had put there, but none of the panel apps (like the WiFi signal-strength
indicator). And now the menu is inaccessible: I click on 'System,' say, and
nothing happens.
