Ubuntu | gconf-editor

           Summary: /desktop/gnome/file_views/show_backup_files has no
                    effect
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gconf-editor
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: cs-usenet at arcor.de
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

My aim is to always see the backup files and only see the hidden files
`on demand', that is with Ctrl+h. But I cannot get the backup files to
display without the hidden files, although this should be possible
with gconf-editor 2.10.0:

What happens: activating both

/desktop/gnome/file_views/show_backup_files

and

/desktop/gnome/file_views/show_hidden_files

shows hidden and backup files, as expected. But activating only

/desktop/gnome/file_views/show_backup_files

and leaving `show_hidden_files' unchecked does /not/ show the backup
files. It seems to me that `show_backup_files' does not work at all,
as `show_hidden_files' toggles both the display of hidden /and/ backup
files: leaving `show_backup_files' unchecked and only activating
`show_hidden_files', I still see both hidden and backup files.

What I expected: the GUI of gconf-editor suggests that the display of
hidden and backup files can be toggled independently, but that does
not work as described above.
