           Summary: stopping gdm crashes
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gdm
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: haqdaq at texel.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

When I try to stop gdm, it crashes. It first happened when I wanted to shutdown,
black screen, nothing worked. When I later tried ctrl+alt+backspace, again black
screen, nothing responds (even ctrl-alt-F1 and such things)... when I reboot
from the console, it halts at 'Stopping GDM', and when I do /etc/init.d/gdm stop
in the console I get a bunch of kernel message's (listed below), while it
reports gdm is stopped correctly. When I try to reboot afterwards, it still
wants to close gdm and crashes.

I use Ubuntu dapper with the most recent updates. I have an ati radeon 9700 with
the newest ati drivers from their site.
