Summary: Gnome Sound Volume applet does not listen to hardware
                    events?
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: amd64
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-applets
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: mikael.olenfalk at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I am having trouble getting my sound modules automatically loaded; so I have to
issue the command "sudo modprobe snd-intel8x0" after logging in.

In order to get the gnome-sound-volume applet to recognize that there actually
is a sound card now; I have to log out and log in again.

It would be nice if this could work automatically, perhaps by letting the applet
listen to HAL events; I don't have any USB sound cards to test with, but this
bug might cover cases for USB sound cards also.
