Ok «problem» solved. Sorry.
There is a limit on the size of the picture to allow thumbnail generation with
nautilus (nautilus/preference)

I put this bug on enhancement. Because 3Mo is the default size limit, this size
is going to be more more usual as 8Mpixels digital cam became accessible.
In my case, my pictures directly imported from my camera are 50% bigger than 3M
and 50% just under this, So 50% of my files are thumbnailed, that put me in trouble.

May be the default size as to be pushed to 5Mo or 10Mo (better)  by default.
