Matt, Scott, this patch ('udev patch to make input devices readable for hal')
would make hal able to read properties of input devices to react to hotpluggable
keyboards, and the like.

Are you generally against opening read access to input devices to anything else
but root? It's a bit delicate, in principle it would allow hal (or, rather,
exploits injected into hal) to read potentially confidential keyboard input.
There haven't been any reports about such vulnerabilities in hal yet, but we can
never know...

So this patch should either be applied (well, adapted to our current udev
rather), or the bug should be closed as WONTFIX.
