It happens to me as well. I've tried with a Philips PCRW1208 cd recorder and
many different CD-Rs of different brands. It used to work under Warty. I haven't
tried the workaround yet, but this is really annoying. Here I'm using Breezy
i386, fully updated. My ide device layout is as follows:
/dev/hda: hard-disk
/dev/hdc: dvd-rom reader
/dev/hdd: cd-rom burner.
