I did that from Breezy, which was installed from scratch with the install CD
(i386), then I applied all the updates (maybe there was a Nautilus update in the
bunch ??)

use?

Nope, nothing fancy, it was simply a "local" file transfer so to speak. I have
two IDE hard drive. One is for Breezy, the other is for testing Dapper.
What I did was make an ISO image of a DVD (which resulted in a 3.3GB file on my
Breezy Desktop), which I then copied, using Nautilus, onto my Desktop in Dapper
. So basically I just copied the file from two ext3 filesystems, from /dev/hda5
to /dev/hb6.

I didn't try with the command line, didn't need to. Nautilus copied the file
just fine. The progress dialogue looked weird for sure, but other than that, it
copied the file perfectly.
I am a bit annoyed, because I can't reproduce the problem. I deleted the file in
Dapper, and tried to copy it again, and this time the progress dialog looked
100% normal ! go figure ! :-/

What to do with this bug ? Please don't close it, because if it ever does it
again, I won't be able to dig out this bug report. (I tried once to re-open a
report of mine that was closed, and could not find it ! I hope Malone is better
than Bugzilla in this regard...).
