Summary: GNOME Panel Doesn't Notify of Program Errors on Startup
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gnome-panel
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: punkrockguy318 at comcast.net
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
If a program fails to start to to an error (A missing library perhaps), GNOME
will not let the user know that the program has failed to start. The "loading"
seqeunce will just continue to run. A smarter approach to this would be to
probe for stderr and notify the user of the problem. Maybe something like this:
Error
The program failed to start properly.
