Hi!

When I click the Application menu, it appears for a split second and then just
turns into a small box of about 3x3 pixels.

Version information:

Gnome = 2.13.2
Linux = 2.6.15
Ubuntu = 6.04 (Dapper)

I have tried various solutions found through web searches and nothing has worked.
