Summary: [Breezy] Panel Notification Area does not reclaim space
properly when icons disappear
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gnome-panel
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: mmacleod at ieee.org
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
As of a week or two on Breezy, the notification area in my upper-right panel has
shown a disturbing tendency to grow as icons are added and removed. This is very
noticeable as I'm using the "New Mail Icon" extension to Thunderbird, which adds
and removes itself constantly as I get new mail. Moving the notification area
around does not resolve the problem, although sometimes exiting applications in
the notification area seems to. Killing the gnome-panel is the only definite was
to 'fix' it, although this kills Gaim as well, which is frustrating. I will
attach screen shots of the problem.
