Summary: gdm doesn't launch GNOME
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gdm
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: cass at skynet.be
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
Breezy fresh install.
When i log in, gdm opens a popup saying that it can't start my session and will
start a failsafe xterm.
In this xterm i launch gnome-session and GNOME seems to work good.
I have this problem with my home backuped user and with a fresh user.
.xsession-errors:
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: could not find the sessreg utility, cannot update
wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Executing /usr/bin/gnome-session failed, will try to run
x-terminal-emulator
