I was asking for the why.  I was making the point that "It changes
behaviour" isn't a good reason to revert a change.

You kept saying "it changes behaviour", which made no sense to me.  I
expected it to change behaviour.  I said it changed behaviour.  You
approved it, having seen that it would change behaviour.  And most
branches change behaviour.
