Yep, I think that was done around the PyCon 2009 timeframe when it was
originally discussed at the language summit (but my memory about stuff like
that sucks, and I'm too lazy^H^H^H^Hbusy right now to check :).

That is interesting - I guess it's not as dead as it appears (pining for the
fjords :). OTOH, we all know how these spare-time projects go. I do hope it
gets renewed momentum for Python 3.3 because I think it could be a very
compelling carrot for folks to migrate to Python 3.

IIRC, at PyCon 2010 Collin and folks basically said that they ended up
spending much more time fixing basic LLVM bugs than working on the Python
integration.

Indeed. I've never quite had time to investigate PyPy in any depth, but I
might have to make the time soon!
