IMO, that is a pig-ignorant approach.

If your project has an eol requirement, then you should enforce it at a
project level.  Every single *bleeping* major editor that exists now on
the Linux side has the ability to add whatever eol sequence that you
want your files to have as well as preserving whatever eol sequence is
already in the file.
