Neil M-B posted a 'mcrepogen' tool <http://launchpad.net/mcrepogen>
that is supposed to generate a random repository of arbitrary size.  I
have not really used it in anger.  If you can generate a tree that
behaves similarly to your real tree and then post the parameters you
used to make it, that would let other people try to debug it, without
you needing to share your secret source or to pass around enormous
snapshots.
