What prompted me to implement the tree selector was that the tabs would
constantly resize as I clicked between them if I was changing from a
repo to a branch or vice versa (because of the working tree view on the
right), which made it somewhat irritating to reliably click the right tab.

And I tend to have a few locations open at once which didn't scale well
with the tabs.

Itch scratching ftw. ;)
