--recursive vs --recurse option

I was wondering if there is a recommendation between
'recurse' vs 'recursive' option for bzr.

Bug #491223: bzr rev ert needs --no-recurse
ls has --recursive
add has --no-recurse
grep has --no-recursive/--recursive

There may be other commands I am not aware of.

--recurse/--no-recurse is shorter and easier to type but
--recursive is more common is standard commands like
grep .
