Howdy Eric,

Thanks for posting a summary of your “Obstacles to an enterprise DVCS”
talk <URL:http://www.ericsink.com/articles/vcs_trends.html>, comparing
Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS) and the need for
integration with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).

You mention only Git and Mercurial as the DVCS options; I'm surprised
you omit the other one of the “big three” DVCS, which is Bazaar
<URL:http://bazaar.canonical.com/>, predating both of the other two
and easily as mature as each of them.

In particular, where you say:

So Git and Mercurial are not even close to being enterprise-ready.
Similarly, none of the leading enterprise ALM tools are even close
    to being a DVCS.

I can only surmise that you have not looked in detail at Launchpad
<URL:https://launchpad.net/>, which has an ALM system (built on Bazaar
repositories) in use by many corporations.

You can get an overview of what Launchpad offers to organisations with
the tour <URL:https://launchpad.net/+tour> and try it out quickly with
<URL:https://staging.launchpad.net/>.

I'd love for you to see how that compares to your understanding of
what organisations need in such a system.

Please feel free to join discussion with other Bazaar users at
<URL:http://lists.canonical.com/mailman/listinfo/bazaar>, and other
Launchpad users at <URL:https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-users>, and
ask questions or speak about your experience.
