ignore regex for "all but select dirs"

An even better one, at least when it comes to matching (or rather excluding) 
directories seems to be:

  '^(?!(?:dir1|dir2|dir3)(?:/|$)).*'

as this will also ignore stuff like 'dir1.foo', but not things like 'dir1/foo' 
or 'dir1'.

Just in case it's useful to anyone.
