It has been discussed as adding 'annotations' or some other such
functionality. This also fits pretty well with how someone would want to
do 'tags' in an advanced manner.

I think the current argument is "versioning annotations requires a
separate DAG, and its associated complexity". Or put short, it can
certainly be done, but makes things more complex. And we aren't sure if
the benefit outweighs the costs yet. (It could also introduce a
performance penalty, if you spend a lot of time checking to see if there
are new annotations while you are looking at other stuff.)

I wonder if something like this could be implemented as a plugin with
the new hooks for showing user-data as part of 'bzr log'. That may be
limited to showing new info, and not modifying existing info, though.
