My favourite :
Written in a language that mere mortals can grok quickly.
Probably a subdivision of "Version Control for Everyone".
My C is so weak, I wouldn't have dared try and contribute to git. I
don't think I would even have starting poking around in sources. But I'm
proud to have a few contributions in the core of Bazaar, and a plugin or
two, not least because I can point to a busy community of users working
with Bazaar in a production environment and reasonably claim that that
it wouldn't work without a) All the awesome hard work by the Bazaar team
and b) A few small patches from lil 'ol me.
My contact with Python beforehand was limited to a few brushes with
things like vss-to-svn converters (irony!). I'm still not fluent in it,
but I don't think you need to be fluent ; it's not as scary as stumbling
around in C.
