1.18.x vs 2.0.x

I think we should add this for 2.0.1 or similar.  It's not quite a bug
fix, but it should be a reasonably small change.  (We should have a
separate thread on where to draw the line.)

In the meantime I sent 1.18.1 to pqm last night and if that passed I
will make a 1.18.1 source tarball.
