I don't have a lot of advice for the hg folk because, practically, I
can't point to a good solution on our side yet. 'bzr help rules' may
help them understand our direction w.r.t. finer configuration control.

In addition, it's been 10x harder than I expected it to be 18 months
back when I first took on this challenge. Part of that has been on the
technical side (it still doesn't Just Work but will hopefully by 2.0).
Differences of opinion wrt design tradeoffs (e.g. storage of metadata in
the tree) have been equally frustrating. It hasn't helped that I was
away sick for many months in the middle of the whole saga.
