The most obvious place we don't have one at the moment is when
starting up a connection and poking through the format files (which I
suppose is what you mean) - unfortunately this is also the time when
the user is most wondering "is it going or not?" and it can be a large
fraction of the total time. It could be addressed by just printing
'connecting to bzr+ssh://example.com/' which would help explain errors
or messages during ssh negotiation.
The annoying thing here is that it says all application code needs to
know whether there's a pb and whether it should synchronize with it.
It should be done in one place. It's not a pressing problem but I
find it gross.
