WinXP: "bzr branch" hanging on externally hosted repos

Here is what .bzr.log gets from bzr -Dhpss branch lp:bzr-svn  (Thanks to
Alexander for the appropriate debug flag.)

This happens for all of the dozen or so lp branches I've tried, not just
bzr-svn.

I'm afraid that's not much help.  The branching "hangs" ata different ponit
each time.  Sometimes early, sometimes late.
