WinXP: "bzr branch" hanging on externally hosted repos

Is anyone else seeing this?

I think this is a problem with my connection to the outside world.  I do not
think this is a problem with bzr.

But I have not been able to resolve this, so maybe one of you has some
ideas.

Virtually every time I try to branch from launchpad, 'bzr branch' hangs
while copying texts.

This happens on WindowsXP just about every time I try to branch from lp.  So
far I don't think it has happened on linux.

The problem does not occur when the "remote" repository is on my internal
network.

I have not tried branching from any "external" network location other than
lp.

I'm sorry I did not notice when this started happening, but it goes back to
at least bzr 1.12.

Any suggestions?
