I would probably say the same. I've relied more or bigger scale tests
like usertests, etc (stuff that takes 30s => minutes)

As Robert mentioned, I do occasionally use the infrastructure. I think
Jelmer recently used it for the RIO/Bencode stuff.

But in the end, I want to use more real-world data than a synthetic
benchmark, and we aren't going to go shipping 100MB tarballs in the
source tree.

So I'm fine removing the bulk of them, though having "self.time()"
available in testing is pretty nice.
