[MERGE][bug 248540] Handle ghosts in mainline a bit better

This patch adds support for ghosts in mainline in a couple of places:

 * Branch._synchronize_history()
 * Repository.iter_reverse_branch_history()
 * Branch.check()

This is required for a few operations on the mainline of solfege.
