On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 01:56:25PM +0900 I heard the voice of
Stephen J. Turnbull, and lo! it spake thus:
>
> I just think it's disingenuous of a revision control system, which
> is supposed to preserve people's data without getting in their way,
> to provide a facility that puts their data at risk and
> simultaneously gets in their way, yet claim this is a feature merely
> because it emulates primitive systems that have no way to avoid
> these distressing events.

TANSTAAFL. Every set of advantages is bought with a set of
disadvantages.

There are times when these disadvantages are so overwhelming that it
would be idiotic to choose them. But there are also times when
they're so minute as to not even be worth a moment's thought, and in
my experience, with the people I work with and the way we work, those
times are quite common. That's why I use a VCS that lets me choose
which tradeoffs are most advantageous in any given place at any given
moment, and doesn't insist that there's One True Balance.
