I agree, and from what I can see the discussion has been constructive
and positive, which is good. (OK there were one or two remarks made
that sounded a bit "irritated", but I think everyone made allowances --
which is good.)
I guess the point here is that Emacs is important for Bazaar but even so
should not cause the process every other user is currently happy with
from being distorted.
I seems reasonable to me that Emacs should use the version on
http://bazaar-vcs.org/Download and not any development version. How
they then deal with the fact that this version changed monthly is a
management process one for them. I don't think the Emacs crew would
take kindly to having a development feature pushed out as a stable
release feature. So despite whatever promises have been made in the
past, it seems right that this feature that Emacs needs be a 1.15 thing
and not a 1.14 thing, and that it be landed in bzr.dev as soon as 1.14
is branched off. For the Emacs crew, what is needed is certainty and
knowledge of when they can use Bazaar with confidence.
In a sense this all seems "obvious" to me, but given there is a debate
going on, I am worried that I am missing something?
