Ubuntu's python-kerberos comes from pykerberos (http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pykerberos/pykerberos_1.0+svn2455-1.dsc
)

Don't think it's in pypi:
(http://pypi.python.org/pypi?%3Aaction=search&term=kerberos&submit=search
)

Further more it looks only to be in intrepid, is it wise to back port
packages into hardy and use them for testing for a release?

I assume the tests soft fail of python-kerberos is not detected?
