After seeing many proposals in this thread, I think that many of these syntaxes can be difficult to understand to new users. Bazaar should be easy to use and this can break it.

I think that many users won't recognize either:
- things like < for „reading“, > for „writing“
- ^ and v meaning „up“ and „down“ and therefore „upload“ and „download“
- lots of symbols together: 0K/s v |
- (for some) a single K which would stand for „Kilobyte“

Instead of trying to represent the concepts of upload and download by one symbol, can't the text „Running“ be changed to reflect whether the action is an upload or a download?

↑/↓ or ←/→ (for „bring“/„push“) are 1 step easier to understand than ^/v but rely on subjective thought patterns, not on conventions. Does people associate a remote branch/computer with being up and to the right?
