AFAICT, to Ben "cookies" are just something that you carry around and
crumble in your pocket, making an annoying mess. I don't think he's
referring to HTTP cookies. Rather, it's all about managing passwords.
Ie, sites are becoming pretty good about managing other user data,
browsers are good at managing sessions. The one thing that cannot be
delegated is credentials management, and we're all getting tired of
the unnecessary effort and annoying errors attendant on maintaining a
separate set of credentials per site when there's only one of each of
us.
(Sure, there are people who don't like cookies or giving any personal
information out, but that's a different matter, and I don't think it
applies to Ben more than to the next guy.)
