I'm a bit boggled that you apparently work for/as a software
consultant but seem to believe that identifying a bug is the same as
having it fixed.

The progress code is changing precisely so that we give a better and
tidier indication of progress and network activity, and so that the ui
can improve in other ways. People seem to like the changes. The
drawback of producing more notifications is that they're more likely
to get out of sync with other terminal output. I know this is
happening and why and it will get fixed in due course.

Please don't go there. It is not constructive and it sounds kind of
childish. You can say "if the developers don't care about X maybe
they don't care at all" for any bug you like, but we cannot do
everything at once. Nobody likes having known bugs, but all software
projects do have bugs. If you care a lot about this bug, send a patch
or ask what you can do to help with it. (I realize your initial
message was in this vein.)
