test_source harmful?

Not rhetorical, since I honestly don't know the answer. I think it's
important for the question to be resolved based on what the whole team
wants, rather than any single developer's opinion, because it's the
kind of issue where *if* it's important, it needs to be enforced
across the whole project with no defectors.

I have no stake in the answer, since I'm not currently intending to be
a member of that team.
