[MERGE] add Filtered views section to the User Guide

As the title says.

I've added the new section near the start of chapter 7
because I'd like this to follow a section on shelve/unshelve
which I feel ought to go right before it (now that these are
part of the core). I can easily move the location to the
end of chapter 7 if reviewers feel that's a better location.
