Ian, thanks!  I like this idea.  Since it's a draft, I put some comments
inline, in searchable form: "COMMENT: ... -kfogel".

With James Westby, I only wish that 'bzr branch' could go further and do
something like this by default.  Compatibility concerns would make that
difficult, though.  Your solution seems like the next-best thing, at
least.  It would enable us to give much simpler instructions to people
switching to bzr from other vc systems on existing projects.
