bazaar slow on AIX

Hi

I've built python 2.5.1 and bazaar 1.12 on AIX, but it seems a bit slow 
to me...

time bzr rocks

It sure does!

real    0m2.23s
user    0m2.17s
sys     0m0.05s

not just this, but bzr selftest is woefully slow, 30 minutes for 1000 tests.

I have attached the out but from

bzr rocks --profile-imports

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what to try to track this 
down?

This is on fairly modern hardware (1.4ghz dual processor PPC).  bzr 
rocks on equivalent sun hardware is around 0.2 seconds....
