Adoption blocker?!  You've got to be kidding.  Trap the error, lather,
rinse, repeat, move on.  Get the TRAMP people to help, this is the
kind of thing that is their meat and potatoes.  If this is a blocker,
Emacs is dead.  Long live Emacs!
