I think "etckeeper" (http://kitenet.net/~joey/code/etckeeper/) is able
to do this; it appears that the version in intrepid is a little old if
you want to use bzr as your vcs backend, though (intrepid has 0.18,
while 0.20 seems to include some Bazaar-related improvements.  jaunty
has 0.21).

I don't know if Miroslav's solution is in any way etckeeper-related;
if not, I too am interested in getting some more details about it.
