Names are fun! I know that one of the big incentives for doing the
release of XEmacs 21.4 was getting to choose the theme of the names.
They also spice up the release announcement, used in contexts where
otherwise you might use a pronoun instead of the version number.

XEmacs bug reports mostly come via an internal command, and that uses
the sequence number version, not the code name. We've had little
problem with remembering code names for that reason. They mostly come
up alone in the context of later user posts in the thread, but by then
you've reassociated the code name with the version.

I don't think bzr will have the kind of minor problems with code names
that Ubuntu faces.
