So many repo formats

I disagree. The problem is not the "One-time conversion", ma all the 
operations between different repo formats.

If there are two or three version of repository, you have to care to every 
operation (pull, merge, push) between all version:

User A (repo ver 1) pull from user B (repo ver 2)....
User C (repo ver 3) merge from user A (repo ver 1), and push to user B (repo 
ver 2)...

More versions exist, more people use bazaar... more combinations exist.

There is no gain in a fastest format, which is slow when interacts with the 
the other formats...
