On Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 08:23:08AM +0100 I heard the voice of
David Ingamells, and lo! it spake thus:
>
> An earlier message gave a weak example that someone then shot down,

As the one doing the shooting, I should reiterate that it was never
meant to carry the message "This feature is pointless because", just
that "Wow is THIS ever a contortionist contrived example"[0].

Nothing in my statements should be read to imply "this is pointless"
or "this is stupid". My reason for chiming in is because every other
reply was in favor of the pwd-relative pathing, and I wanted to make
sure it was realized and kept in mind that while such a thing is quite
likely a desirable _alternative_ for root-relative, and may[1] even be
the desirable default behavior, it is NOT a _replacement_ for
root-relative.

[0] Both for the amusement value of it, and because I have a deathly
fear (entirely supported by reality, IMAO) of things like this
ending up uncontested in places like mailing list archives, where
some poor sucker will find them in a web search and cargo-cult
them until the heat death of the universe.

[1] Obviously, I prefer the current as default. But then, my history
of preferences for defaults has a spotty relationship to the
    defaults we've ended up with.
