No, you haven't misunderstood.  We thought it was a good choice when we
released it, but it turns out to be buggy.  We are replacing it with
- --1.6.1-rich-root, which does not have this bug.

In the meantime, you should use --rich-root-pack.  The only intentional
difference between them was that 1.6-rich-root supports stacking.
