1.6 home straight

1.6final is very close now. Here is what remains to be done:
* log has regressed; I think we should put back the hint to read the
whole index before doing per-file log that was present in 1.5. This
would mean we have not removed the restriction that the indexes must
fit in vm, but for things that do fit they'll be substantially faster.
It might be nice to add a cleaner "just a hint" api that does not
mandate loading everything, but that could wait for a later release.
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr/+bug/256409 "inconsistent delta with
deleted directories" - this has not yet been reproduced either by the
user or by us; Robert proposed a prophylactic check against this kind
of revision which should be merged to 1.6; it does not seem like a
good idea to slip the release.
* Jelmer has 'fix copying of root revision in inventory' which is
approved and should be merged to 1.6.
* I believe there is a Windows-specific fix (?) which does not have
1.6 in the subject but wants to be merged across.
Is there anything else?
Unfortunately I have to drop this mail and run, as I'm going on
vacation for two weeks. John has kindly offered to take over as
release manager for 1.6 and also to run 1.7. I hope that we (and when
I say we I mean you :-) can merge just the most necessary fixes for
1.6, get it out, and then get back on a regular schedule.
