I have a bit of concern about that too.  I guess if you notice your
message has not got through BB you could resend direct to the list.
Perhaps it would be feasible for BB to support both what you could
call serial and parallel configurations ,where either passes through
messages sent direct to it, or watches for messages on the list.

Of course there may be some delay before you realize your message is
delayed, but I think if you're in a hurry you'll be pinging someone
for a review and they'll notice, and if you're not in a hurry you can
notice tomorrow.
